3D surgical planning, in the browser
In production at 3DSide, a Belgian medical technology company, for shoulder, knee and ankle arthroplasty planning. It is the company’s core product.

- The problem
- Before fitting a custom implant, the surgeon must decide its exact position from a CT scan. Done on 2D slices and hand measurements, this work is slow, hard to reproduce and awkward to hand to the team building the cutting guide.
- What I built
- A medical-grade web application from the patient scan to the 3D-printed cutting guide: anatomy reconstruction, real-time implant positioning in the browser, angle and contact-area measures, surgeon validation, then guide generation. I led development of the 3D planning part and worked on architecture, interface and rendering performance.
- The result
- In production at 3DSide, a Belgian medical technology company, for shoulder, knee and ankle arthroplasty planning. It is the company’s core product.
